Announced at last year's Game Awards, Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled is a remake of the original 1999 PS1 classic. Developer Beenox has recently uploaded a new trailer for the game, giving a short look at the levels in the new engine with redone graphics. While the game has been re-created from the ground up with new assets and voiceovers, the intent is to ensure the experience is as close as possible to the original game. More in-depth videos of gameplay were shown during a hands on event, where three levels--Dingo Canyon, Polar Pass, and Crash Cove--were showcased in full. Crash Team Racing: Nitro Fueled will race to Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch on June 21, 2019.

I want my diddy kong racing remake. But this looks cool. Never played the original, but should be a fun carter to play. Hopefully will have good local multiplayer.

They did it for the DS and the reaction to it was mixed.

I still got the original and it still works and I can play it on my PS3 so..

Is a fun game bur you may as well play SuperTuxKart instead of buying a remake.

I enjoyed playing the original CTR when I used to own it. While both are racing games, they're quite different in how they handle things (if we're comparing CTR and Mario Kart 64, since they're from the same era). It'd be better to compare it with Diddy Kong Racing because of the story mode and various collectables.

Crash Team Racing and Diddy Kong Racing had:
    • A story mode with multiple hub worlds that you could drive around in. These contain entrances to the racing tracks, challenges, and bosses.
    • In CTR, you have your usual races with trophies to win and a lot of other things to collect, such as Relics, Gems, Tokens, and Boss Keys. There were also time attack challenges. DKR also had its own things to collect besides the usual.
    • A diverse cast of playable characters. CTR had a total of 15 playable characters (7 unlockables: 6 through normal game play, 1 via code input), while DKR had 10 (2 unlockables).
    • Both games have unlockable racing tracks and battle mode maps.
    • CTR needed a multitap to be able to do multiplayer with 4 players. (This was due to the PS1 and PS2 consoles only having 2 controller ports.)
    Mario Kart 64 had:
    • Cups at various CCs. You can win trophies, that's it.
    • The Mario Kart series has never had a story mode or hub worlds to explore.
    • 8 playable characters. No unlockable characters at all.
    • No unlockable battle maps.
    • The only unlockable content in MK64 was Extra mode (Mirror Mode) in Mario GP (you can't use it in VS or Time Trials), a different title screen (by getting every gold trophy), and 3 Course Ghosts (Staff Ghosts) in Time Trial mode.
I'm probably missing some stuff, but that's the main gist of it.

CTR was my Mario Kart growing up. I've always loved the physics and the turbo system in CTR better. Watching that gameplay video was hard, since my brain was pointing out all the missed turbo oppertunities. Cant wait to take this online. Also hoping they add a few characters that were missing, but in the PS1 trilogy.

We don't speak of the abomination that is the DS remake :P. It'd be nice if it got a proper treatment like this game apparently is getting. Wonder if it'll "feel" the same.

I really hope they achieve this. The game versions from Wii were really bad crap.

I've played the original version on my PSX, and really enjoyed playing it. At the moment it was a decent Mario Kart racing game competitor.

But there weren't any Crash Team Racing games on the Wii. Only two Crash games were released for it: Crash of the Titans and Mind over Mutant (which were platformer games). You're probably thinking about Crash Nitro Kart and Crash Tag Team Racing, which were released for the GameCube and playable on backwards compatible Wii consoles.
